I Just Have To Share This

I just have to share a story of a four year old little girl at my church.
I teach children's church for children ages 3-9 year old. I have this little girl that is cute as a button and hyper as all get out. She can't sit still so I never think she is listening to what I am teaching.
I have spent the last 2 months teaching of Jesus' walk on earth, the miracles he perfomed and the cruel death and resurrection. The kids have really enjoyed this and were very sad that he had to die but also understood why it had to happen.
Well yeserday we had our egg hunt with the regular visit from the Easter Bunny. Today Lexie came in and told everyone that would listen that Easter is not about the Easter bunny, it's about Jesus dying for our sins so we can live forever. She even told them that Judas was his best friend and betrayed him to the soldiers. She described the crucifixtion and told then he died to save us. She ended her story with a statement that "the Easter bunny is ok but he's not what Easter is about. It's about Jesus."
It's incidents like this that makes everything worth while. Lexie's grandmother keeps her and I know she talks to her too but when she came in and told her version of the Easter story, it brought tears to my eyes. All the kids could tell you all about the crucifixion and why it happened but little Lexie wanted the whole world to know about it.
So always remember that when you think liitle children are not listening, they do hear. Jesus said, "Suffer not the little children, that they come unto me". We need to talk to our children and maybe through them we can get God back into our country. Happy Easter and God bless you.

Aww, this is such a sweet story. I'm so happy Lexie really was listening to you. I just wish it could be accomplished that we could have Jesus in our schools, and government bldngs again. It shouldn't be a threat to anyone, because we are all loved by God.

Great story, Valerie. I think most kids are way more together than we give them credit for. Too bad most of them also outgrow that. It's also a wonderful reflection on your teaching skills. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Nice keeping in touch with you.

Good Morning, Little things like this makes you feel like you are doins something right, and it makes what you do so worthwhile. I know kids listen when we are so unaware. It's the same way with my 3 year old granddaughter. Such a sweet and moving story. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful story Valerie - and a wonderful Easter gift. Let's hope Lexi never forgets that story - or outgrows the ability and willingness to share it! Blessings & Hugs, Robin

Kids are such special people. If the entire world saw the world through a child's eyes, there would be no reason for war or poverty. I have always said when I can't see things through a child's eyes I don't want to live anymore. Thanks for all the comments, Valerie
