My New Found Love of Osnaburg

I have thought and thought about what fabric old timers used for stitcheries and have come up brain dead.LOL I know it is some kind of linen but can't find one that is as thin as the doilies that I find at sales.
Well I came across a pattern similar to this runner in Create and Decorate and had to have one for my dining table. And the directions said to use a porous fabric. So once again I put on my thinking cap and the only fabric I could think of was osnaburg and I LOVE it!!
I coffee stained me some up and freehand drew this vine design on the fabric and stitched it with hunter green. It's not finished yet but I just couldn't wait to show you the results. To me this looks just like something you would find in an old attic. When I get the flowers on it, I will post a pic of the finished product. For now, see what you think.

You can buy this at Wal=Mart, Joan's fabrics, Hobby Lobby and most craft stores that sell fabric. Hope this helps Jaja.
I am working on the flowers now and hope to have it finished in a couple of days. I'm making the yo yo flowers with button centers. Thanks girls, Valerie

I love it!! I'll have to try that myself. I think we have the same diningroom set, right down to the yellow spot where I tried to wipe away one of the kids' craft experiments :) Really that could have been a picture of my table.
