My Birthday

Well today was my birthday and I had a really nice birthday party with my family. And I get my favorite thing in the whole world.(for right now anyway).LOL
I am a shoeaholic!! Not only do I have a pair of shoes in every color, I have two pair in most colors, especially my favorite colors. I have a pair of boots in every color and I have a pair of sandals in every color. But my most favorite color in the world is red!!! And can you believe I cannot find a pair of boots in red!! But I have to have leather because my feet fell like they are on fire with handmade fiber and I have to have wide. So that does make it a little harder for me to find shoes.
But this lady at church found me a pair of red boots, mid calf, solid leather and wide!!!!! YEAH!!!!
The downside was they were $70.00. Well I don't mind paying $40.00 or $50.00 but 70 is a little steep for me. So Sunday my Sunday School class gave me $25.00 and a lady at church gave me $25.00 and today my kids gave me $30.00. Guess what I am getting for my birthady. DUH!!
RED BOOTS!!!!!!!!! I am ordering them tommorrow and when I get them, I will post them so you can see what the fuss is all about.
Did I also forget to tell you that I am a spoiled brat and every time I want something my kids and brothers think I am suppose to have it.LOL And now the church does too!!! Well as long as I get what I want they can call me what they want to.LOL
I have to tell this one. Dawn is a friend that I met online and today she was wishing me a Happy Birthday on Facebook. Well her daughter saw her spell my name and told her that it was almost like Valentine. I thought that was so sweet.
So I hope you all had a very Happy Valentine's Day with your loved ones too. Until next time...

Happy Valentine's Day

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day. I hope you get to spend today with someone you love.
Remember to say a prayer for our soldiers that are away from their loved ones and for their families as well. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!

Another Swap

I was in another swap through Old Farmhouse Gathering. This is a group that I belong to through Etsy. These are a great group of ladies who have been very helpful with learning the Etsy ropes.

They had a Valentine Supply swap and I got Robin from Baggaraggs . When I opened her box, I was just amazed! She had everything wrapped so neatly with such really cute tags on them. Each box and pocket was filled with neat items to craft with.
The first item I saw was this paper mache box wrapped with lace and a cute little butterfly with lace under it. When I opened it, it was filled with clay, small wooden spools of thread, grundgy tags and a little hanky that I love. I love all the old hankies and table runners. And she had a little slip she had made. I LOVE that slip!!!
She gave me lots of fabric metal eyes, rusty pins, a little pocket with needles on it. Everything was just awesome!! And I can't forget the stamps. She sent me stamps from different places! Here's some pics so you can see everything. There was just to much for this old brain to remember.LOL Thank you so much Robin. I love everyting in this package! Head over to Robin's and check out her blog. All you have to do is click on Baggaraggs at the top and it will take you there.
Swaps are so much fun and I have met some really sweet people through them. I met Nancy from StitchesnStrokes through a swap and we are now best friends (through cyberspace)LOL I also met Maureen of Stitches N More through a swap and she is a very dear friend. So have I said lately how much I love swaps and blogging?LOL I hope everyone has a very Happy Valentine's Day .

Swap Package from Ilona

RabbitHollowPrims had a Valentine swap and my partner was Ilona from DesignsbyGuka and I received my package yesterday. It was filled with the cutest little Valentine Annie Doll. She is all dressed up in her Valentine dress with eyelet pantaloons. I also got an adorable crocheted basket filled with candy. This swap was so much fun. Thanks Ilona for the wonderful swap! Head over and check out her blog. Just click on her name. Swaps are such a fun way to meet new blogging friends.

Prim Wood Jelly Bean Tute

Materials needed
Scrap piece of 3/4 in. pine
brown paint
red paint
yellow paint
purple paint
black paint
green paint
orange paint
Diamond Dust or glitter of your choice
mod podge
walnut stain
rubber gloves

Here's a tutorial for making wood jelly beans. The pattern is at the bottom of this tute.
First cut the jelly beans out of 3/4 in pine or wood of your choice. Sand smooth and round the edges a little. Then paint the jelly beans with dark brown paint. Sand it leaving edges and places where you can see the wood. Be sure and paint both sides and ends. Now select which colors you want to paint your jelly beans. I chose red, yellow, orange, black, green and purple. Put a coat of paint on, let dry and then sand leaving bare spaces on the edges and in the center. Now put a coat of walnut stain on and rub off, leaving the candy the darkness that you prefer. Be sure and wear rubber gloves when using stain.

Now you can either put a clear coat of matte spray sealer on or you can add "sugar". If you choose to add sugar, just put a coat of mod podge on and dip in glitter of your choice. I chose Diamond Dust. After one side dries, put a coat of mod podge on the other side and dip it in glitter while wet. After all is dry, spray a coat of matter sealer on. And now you have jelly beans to add to your favorite Easter baskets or bowls. I have given you four sizes so that you can choose which size you want or mix them together.
If you want to make them out of fabric, just trace around pattern piece on doubled muslin with a washable pen, leaving a space open to stuff. Stuff with fiberfill and sew up the seam. Then add a little coffee or tea stain to your paint before painting. Then follow the rest of the instructions.
If you have any questions, contact me at valerie999@comcast.net and I will be glad to help. Feel free to make these to sell. Just please give me credit for the design. Have fun!
