My Swap Package

I entered an Easter swap at Crow's Creek Proboard and got Jan from My Primitive Nest and this is what I received. I am thrilled!! She has put so much detail on both items and they are awesome!! Thanks Jan.
When I opened the package and looked at the dress and apron, I kept thinking "where did she find fabric that aged?" Well she put it on wrong side out! I would never have thought of doing that but it is an excellent idea. It looks so faded and prim.
And the pin keep is adorable! I would never have the patience to do this type of craft. And if you look close she even put a little bumble bee charm on one of the flowers! I have one of her sheep with the punch needle and it is adorable and now I have a pinkeep too. Thank you so much Jan!!! Yours is in the mail and I hope you like yours as much as I love mine!!!
Head over and check out her blog and see all the neat things she has made. And WOW, that sewing basket is AWESOME! Great work Jan. www.myprimitivenest.blogspot.com

Precious Memories

I remember as a child spending time with my grandma. There was no money then and no toys so you used your imagination on what to do. We did, however, have coloring books and crayons.
One day while my younger brother and I were coloring, Grandma asked what we were doing. So we showed her and begged her to color one page. Well she loved it so every time we went to Grandma's we colored with her. While we colored, she would tell stories about old days. This was so much fun.
My Aunt and Grandpa made fun of her for coloring because of her age so she wouldn't color one day. We told her they were silly and she told us that she knew she was too old for that but she loved to see what the beautiful colors looked like together. Well we told her that she just needed to color when they weren't around and they couldn't laugh at her. And she did.
So my brother and I saved all the money we could get hunting and selling coke bottles or helping someone for a little money and we bought Grandma her own coloring book and crayons. She hid them in her chest of drawers and when we weren't there she would color and get so excited to show us her pictures when we came to stay with her. All the money in the world could not have bought the pleasure that coloring with Grandma did.
It's not the money we spend that children remember when they grow, it's the time we spend with them.
What better way to spend time with your children than to craft with them this Easter. Make some salt dough, let them cut out their favorite shapes with cookie cutters and then sit down and paint with them. All you need is 1 cup plain flour, 1/2 cup salt and a enough water to make it damp. Knead it until smooth and roll out about 1/4 in. thick and cut out shapes. Then bake it in 250 degrees oven for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Just make sure they are hard. Let cool and sand just a little. Then get some acrylic paints and let them use their imagination on how to paint them.

We have set up a date with my granddaughter, great niece and my granddaught's friend to do this. It's a fun and cheap way to spend time with your kids or grandkids. Have fun and make your own memories.
