My Swaps & Win!

I was in 2 swaps and I won Jan's giveaway from My Primitive Nest. Well yesterday I got the mail in and all three arrived at once! Well I was in hog heaven.LOL
Jan gave away three of her punch needle projects and since I was the first winner, I got two!! Pictures do not do these punch needles justice. I have swapped with Jan before and her work is fabulous!! If you haven't seen her blog head over and check out her work at http://myprimitivenest.blogspot.com/ Here's a pic of what I won and I absolutely LOVE the sheep punch needle!!!! And the rabbit punch needle is soooo adorable. I am still deciding if I want to frame the sheep or make a pillow out of it.

And here is the rabbit punch needle. Jan, I love both punch needle projects and sooo happy that I won your spring giveaway!!! Thank you so much.

I was also in a 4th of July swap on Prim Pals and got Sharon Posey. I opened the box and she had everything wrapped in crow paper. I love the paper but I really loved all the goodies. She sent an Uncle Sam, electric candle, an adorable embroidered hand towel and so much more. She even etched 1776 in the small candle! Here's pics of all the goodies I got. Thanks Sharon for such a great swap package!!!!!

And last but not least, I was in a supply swap at Old Farmhouse Gahtering and got Mary Thompson as my partner and she sent me the neatest items. She read that I have a hard time finding linen and sent me several pieces of linen for stitcheries! She also sent some flowers, lace buttons and a lot of amish pattern. Thank you so much for such a great swap Mary!!1 Here's pics of her swap.

So now you can see why I was doing the happy dance yesterday. I got three great packages in one day! How lucky can one girl be?

Popcorn Flower Tute

These little flowers are soooo easy to make.
First you cut out a circle on the fabric of your choice. The circles can be any size you want. I used a 2 inch circle for the small ones but you can make them as large as you want.
Next you sew a gathering stitch about 1/8 in. from the outside on the wrong side of the fabric.

Then you just gather the fabric, shaping it and trying to keep the gather uniform until the gathering stitch is in the center of the flower. The gathering is on the wrong side of the fabric also. ( I use my little finger to guide the stitches.) Once it's gathered, it should look like this.

Now all you do is is turn the raw edged to the inside of the flower and stitch in place. Choose a button of your choice and sew it in the center of the flower. Remember the smaller the flower, the smaller the button. The larger the flower, the larger the button. Wala, you are finished!

These can be used on stitcheries or quilts. You can put a pin on the back for little dolls. Or you can take the bigger flowers and sew a stick on the back and put in a vase. The possibilities for these little flowers are endless.
If you have any questions, just feel free to ask and I will be glad to help. Enjoy!!
Please note that thinner fabric is easier to manipulate when gathering. I wouldn't suggest thick fabric on the small flowers.

It is Finished!

Well this was one of those projects that I couldn't put down until I finished it.LOL
So here is the finished table runner. This is my first time at popcorn flowers so I think I did pretty good. I chose just to keep it simple and I really like the finished touch.
Now I have to make some summer bowl fillers. I'm thinking of strawberries, watermelon and crows. See what you think.
