I Can't Believe It

I can't believe it! I hung my chicken feeder bird feeder out yesterday and filled it as well as my other bird feeder that I have had for 2 years to see which feeder the birds would choose. And believe it or not, they chose the chicken feeder bird feeder!!! It must be because the holes are larger and easier to get to but I had to go refill it today. I just love this bird feeder.

It's Flower Time in Tenn.

Well I love flowers and so when I found this idea on Lucy's Lazy Dayz Primitives Blog, I was so excited.

She had a flower planted in an old chair and ding-dong the lights went on!LOL
I found about 12 old chairs at a rummage sale for $2.00 ea. and grabbed them a couple of years ago. And my mil had bought me a dishpan that I used for cooking corn every summer about 35 yrs ago. Well it got a leak last year and I couln't use it again. Started to throw it away and boy am I glad I didn't!
So after visiting Lucy's blog, I dug out one of my chairs, pierced holes in the bottom of the washtub and broken pottery pieces in for drainage and then filled with dirt. Went to Wal Mart last night and bought flowers and just planted them today. Is this not georgeous! I may paint the chair and chip it off but I couln't wait to see what it looked like so that will be another day. (I have never been a patient person)LOL. The tub is a little big but the dirt makes it heavy enough to be steady and that's all that counts. Think I'll hang a birdhouse on the back?
If you get a chance visit Lucy's blog. It really has some interesting things on it. Until next time...

Busy, Busy Monday

Hi, hope everyone had a great weekend. I sure did. And today I got the biggest surprise!

Due to a huge asthma attack for the last several weeks, I haven't been able to get outside. But today I decided to work in my flower beds. Well they desparately need it. But I looked outside and one of my azalea bushes is in full bloom! It is beartiful!!! So I started cleaning my pond area. I got one little section clean before getting tired but I will go out and do another section after resting.
And I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to post this picure of my snowball bush while on here. It is loaded and just beautiful too.
Don't YOU JUST LOVE SPRING? Until next time...

For Our Feathered Friends

I saw this Saturday at a garden center and just couldn't wait to share it with my blog friends. I think this is the cutest idea for our feathered friends to help them in building their nest. And it is so cheap!!

All you need is a suet feeder and a journey outside. All you do is fill a suet feeder with anything that you think a bird will use to build its nest. This would be such a cute idea to share with your children or grandchildren.
You can teach them the importance of birds and the beauty they bring to our world.
I used this as an excuse to cut the dead honeysuckle vine out of my bushes, picked up sticks in the yard and threw in some grassy moss. Then I cut some dead leaves off my broom corn and added some twine, close it up and let the birds choose what they want. I may add some ribbon and pearls. What do you think?
I loved this idea so much that I took our children's church kids outside today and had a scavenger hunt. We live right below our church so I just took them to my yard. They picked up all their twigs and vines and even their own dried grass. Next Sunday we are going to let them make this for their Mother's Day Gift. I think this is just too cool. Check it out and see what you think.
Here it is in my garden. I can't wait to see what they choose to decorate their home. Until next time...

Busy, Busy Saturday

Today has been a busy, busy day. IT'S GARDEN TIME!!! YEAH!!! So once again, this year I am trying something new. We planted the usual, green beans, tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, radishes and green onions.

And last year, I planted broom corn and sweet annie for the first time and LOVED it. So this year I planted them again. They don't sell sweet annie seeds around here so I took the seeds off of some of last years and planted it. Can't wait to see if it works.
But, this year, I planted Popcorn. My Mom use to tell me of how her Dad always planted popcorn, saved it in a jar and popped it over the fireplace during the winter. Said it was delicious. So I am going to try it this year. Can't wait to see if it works! Wish me luck!
And last but not least, I am planting pinto beans.LOL Ran into a man at the co-op and he was looking for pinto beans for his wife. Well, they don't sell them. So I am soaking some pinto beans in water and later this afternoon, I am going to go plant them. Chester has laughed me out of the garden. But, what the hey, with the price of pinto beans, if it works, look at the money I have saved. And if it doesn't, I have lost two handfuls of pinto beans. Figure start out slow and see what it does. If it works, I'll plant a bunch next year.
And as a bonus, when I took the seeds off my sweet annie, it left some adorable little stems that will be perfect for additives in my prims. And it still had the aroma!!! So I have had a great but busy Saturday. How's your day?
Tomorrow I am going to post a really cute idea for our friendly birds. Be sure and check
Until next time...
Here's picture of sweet annie stems.

You will love this one!

OK, I know everyone has a child (or hubby) that is never satisfied, wakes up grumpy, whines, temper tantrums, you name it and you just can't take it anymore.lol Well, when I saw this label, I just had to have it for mine.

I have taken an old apple wine bottle that I found in a shed on my daughter's farm that they just bought and attached a Master's Mood Lifter label from Yankee Lane Primitives to it.
Now don't that just look like a tonic bottle from the old days to you? I'll bet when I come toward my sourpuss with this bottle, it lifts that mood right up!LOL This is available in my etsy shop, http://www.yorkiesprimitives.etsy.com/. If you get a chance hop over and take a peek at my items for sale.

Please be sure and put your blog or email in the comment so I will be able to get in touch with you. I will mail the heart out that day and you can keep it for yourself or give it to your mother or a dear friend if your Mom has passed away. So put on your thinking caps girls and put those comments on the board.
Post this giveaway on your blog or website, and I will put your name in twice. Follow me and I will put your name in 3 times. Just put a link back to this site if you post this so I can give you credit.

Everywhere a label, label

Yorkie's Primitives had a label, eeh eye, eee eye, oh. ....Everywhere a label, label.LOL

I have gone label crazy. But I just love them! As promised, I am posting pics of my finished jars with my labels on them. Now don't you agree that this is just tooo cute? Just looks more homey.

Before: After:
Not only did I make labels for my pinto beans and coffee, I made one for my bacon grease! I just love that label. Looks so much cuter sitting on my stove. And wait until you see what I have come up with tomorrow!!

Prosperous weekend

Well I had a prosperous weekend. I went to rummage sales Friday and found a set of lock jars with seals for $1.00 for 3. Couldn't believed it! Then they had a Raggedy Ann & Andy doll for $1.00 each. Since I LOVE Raggedies and very seldom find the two together I grabbed them. Finally, a tin bucket for 50 cents.

I have already decided what to do with the jars. I hate to open pinto beans and spill them everywhere so the large jar is going to hold pinto beans. The middle jar is for coffee. And not sure about the small. Two out of three isn't bad. And since I have gone label crazy, they will have labels on them also. I can't wait until tomorrow to show the end results but tonight you get to see the jars and dolls. Still haven't decided what I will do with the pail. Anybody got any ideas?

Saturday we planted part of our garden. We got our green beans and okra planted. Then Chester planted tomatoes and is now hoping the cold weather doesn't kill them. Keep your fingers crossed.
So how was your weekend? Until next time...

New furniture

Well I finally got most of my living room put back together and am posting pics of furniture. Here's the sofa.

Next is the chair. It is very large and comfy. I didn't realize how large until I got it. Now I can't put my coffee table in. No room but the chair is worth it.

Here is a picture of a basket that I found at the farm my daughter and sil bought. I am like Sage and can't figure out what to put in it. It is rather large so does anyone have any ideas?

And finally, Nancy notice anything familiar? This is a picture that Brittany had made for me for Christmas. I have told them that I wanted a picture of me and all my kids. So Brittany had this matt made with each of the kids handprints or thumbprint on it and took a picture of us at Christmas, enlarged it and put it in the frame. Nancy I think that heart is just perfect beside that picture! From left to right in the very back is my nephew, Mikey, my grandsons Caleb and Christian(twins), my oldest grandson, Jacob, my niece Brittany, Me, my niece Jamie, My grandkids, Blake, Daniel and Sarah. My two girls want to know where they are.LOL Until next time...

Horray they are finished

Horray, Halleluha, Amen. My floors are finished. I have waxed and buffed one end of the living room and tomorrow will do the other. I have washed the walls and the windows. So now all I am waiting on is my furniture which comes Thursday. I can't wait! I will post pictures as soon as my furniture gets here.
My one drawback is curtains. Can't find any fabric with the right shade of blue and chocolate in it and the only drapes I have found are at Lowe's. And believe it or not, they sell one curtain in a pack. That's ridiculous! So to put curtains on one window, it would cost $60.00. And I have 4 windows! Even if I had that kind of money, I wouldn't pay it just for the principle. Who came up with the brilliant idea to sell one curtain per package? That's just another way for companies to rip off the public and I won't give them the satisfaction. Not only am I cheap, I am stubborn.LOL So I am still looking for fabric. Aren't they gorgeous? Until next time...

Ditty bags

Well I have found a new craft idea that I really like. I have purchased prim labels from Yankee Lane Primitives and Blue Cupboard Primitives and I am going label crazy. My first thought was ditty bags. What better way to dress them up than to put prim labels on them? So here is my first ditty bag, Cinnammon Sticks. It will be listed on my etsy shop at http://www.yorkiesprimitives.etsy.com/. Drop on over and take a look at this and other items that I have for sale. You can also email me at valerie999@comcast.net if you are interested in purchasing one. I will have another one tomorrow with Tallow Candles. Keep checking back for more pics. Untill next time...

Rummage sale time

Well I am late posting but I have been under the weather due to allergies. But I went rummaging Saturday and was very proud of my findings. Look what I got for $7.00

I especially love the old box. Can't wait to prim it up and get prim labels from Yankee Primitives to decide which one to put on this old box. I also have to decide what I want in it. It was $1.00
The jars were a dollar a piece except for one and it was 2.oo. the wood balls were 50 cents and the two brass containers were 50 cents apiece. I could not believe I got such a good bargain.

Blog giveaway

Season's of the past is having a great giveaway. Hop on over and view her blog and enter her contest.
www.seasonsofthepast.blogspot.com.

Almost there

Well my floors are almost finished and I bought furniture today. I just love it! Couldn't decide which color I wanted until I went in the store and this creamy blue just popped out. Never had blue before. So now I am just waiting on the floor to be finished and the furniture to be delivered. I am so excited! As soon as everything is set up, I will post pics. Have a great weekend. Until next time...

April fools day

Well I fell for it twice. First Chester came in and told me he didn't know what to do about our floors. He is working on the last section.(thanks goodness). Then he told me where we had termites, the floor caved in while he was sanding. I panicked! Then he said "April Foo's". I'm gonna kill him.lol
Then Daniel, my 11 year old grandson, came in and told me with a sober face, that his favorited teacher got fired for talking on her cell phone during working hours and that he hates subs. Well guess what? When I started to tell his mother about it, he says, "April Fools". I'm gonna kill him too. So how many of you were fooled on this lovely day?
Until next time...
