The Giveaway Arrived

Well Maureen received her surprise giveaway package today and says that she really likes it. I will show you a pic so you can all see what was in the box. First I made a Raggedy Ann and pumpkin. I dressed Raggedy Ann in an orange plaid homespun with a solid orange apron. Her hat is burlap with the plaid fabric tied around it. Her pumpkin is made out of the orange fabric with green calico leaves attached. I then attached grundgy cheesecloth to it with rusty wire and made the ends curly for the vines on a pumpkin. Everything was stained to the prim stage. She has a hang tag that says Annie's Pumpkin. All of her hard work paid off because she is so proud of her pumpkin that is almost as big is she is! She was signed and dated on the back of her body. She was made using a Threadbare Primitive pattern.
Second, I took a pint jar and grundged it up with modge podge and cinnammon and put some fall portpourri in it with grundgy cheesecloth tied around it and a hang tag that says Prim Fixins.
Then I put a candle in a small bowl and poured some pudka pods and cinnammon sticks around it.
And last, I tied a piece of the orange plaid homespun around two pumpkin cheescake scented candles.
Remember girls, I will be having a Christmas giveaway sometime in November so keep checking back for a chance to win it. Until next time...

What I Have Been Doing

I finally decided what to do with the cutting board that I refinished and wanted to share a pic with you.

I decided to use the bowl to display seasonal items on my dining room table. And in the Aug/Sept. issue of Prim Sister Gazette there was an awesome tutorial from Kim DeWalt of Cabin Creek Primitives on how to make pumpkins and they are soooo easy! And Lucy has a great idea on coloring leaves and making a scarecrow wreath. If you haven't read their gazette, you should take the time to read it. They always have such good articles in them.
So I colored me some leaves and lined my bowl with them. Then I made two pumpkins, one orange and one white and placed them in the bowl with fixins around them. Then I added a scarecrow ornie that I got in a swap last year in front of the pumpkins. I also made a fly cover from Char's blog and placed a cinammon roll candle wrapped in grundgy gauze under it on the corner of the board. I just love the way this turned out. See what you think. Now I'm trying to decide what to put in it for Christmas. Hmm.
What have you been up to? Until next time...

And the Winner is...

Hi I want to thank everyone who entered my fall giveaway and I appreciate all the comments that were left. I had a total of 19 people who entered. WOOHOO!! I am sorry for the delay in announcing the winner but we celebrated my daughter's birthday today so I forgot it yesterday. (That's what getting old does for you.)LOL

To be fair to everyone, I had my granddaughter draw the name out of a bowl with her eyes closed. And the winner is Maureen. Maureen send me your address and I will send out the gifts on Tues. I will post a picture of what is in the box after Maureen receives her package so that we don't ruin her surprise.
I will be having another giveaway before Christmas so keep checking back. Thanks everyone, Valerie. Sarah wanted to know why her name wasn't in there.LOL Until next time...

Giving it a new look

While searching websites the other day, I happened on a website that had a cutting board displayed on her table with accessories on it. Well I fell in love with it. Then I remembered that I had an old cutting board that my husband had bought me years ago and it had been used so much, it wasn't fit to use anymore. But rather than through it away, (which I am so thankful I didn't), I had put it in the shed.

Well I ran out there today and brought it in and gave it a new look. I just love the way it turned out!! Only problem is, I am still debating on what to put in my bowl. Anyone have any ideas? See what you think.
Before & After

This is what it looks like on my table. I am going to add something small on the napkin. I just haven't decided what yet. Until next time...
