Hi everyone. Thought I would share some photos of my 7 year old granddaughter, Sarah, in her first horse show. This child loves all animals but horses is her favorite. She has begged for a horse since the age of 2. So for her birthday she finally got one last year. She now takes lessons and for her first show I think she did pretty good. There were only 6 kids in her age bracket.

For her first contest, walk and trot, she came in 6th. She was thrilled because she got a ribbon in her favorite color, green. LOL

Her second contest, which was trotting ground poles, she won 2nd place and was really excited. I couldn't go watch the show because of extreme allergies to horses and hay, so she called me as soon as she won to let me know that she won 2nd.

Her final contest was a Halloween dress up contest. So she and Buttercup dressed up as flapper girls. I tried to get her to do the flapper girl dance but she wouldn't hear of it.LOL By this time Buttercup was tired of this show, considering this was her first show too, so she dragged Sarah all around the pen. My daughter and Son in law had to go save her. So needless to say since there was only four in this contest, she came in fourth again.
LOLOLOL.

Overall, Sarah had a wonerful day and was very proud of her accomplishments and so were we.

Hi, I thought I would share a Hope Indian weave rug I made with you. I have found that weaving rugs is one of the most relaxing things I do before bedtime. I have learned through trial and error that you have to start the shape of the rug when you begin which can be a little difficult since I am still very new at this. If anyone does this type of weaving, I would really appreciate any help on an easy way to start.

Anyway, I made this rug out of hunter green and barn red homespun with muslin to separate them. Around the edge I used a hunter green check with sunflowers just to give it some color. I am laying it in front of my kitchen sink. I really like the way this rug turned out. I am going to make another one and try to make it longer to put in front of my stove. I found some stuff to put on the back of the rugs at Hobby Lobby to keep them from slipping but it has to set for 2 weeks so I don't know if it works yet. I will post my opinion after the 2 weeks are up. Here's the picture

Sarah's doll

I haven't been on for a while due to severe asthma attack. I finally feel better so I thought I would share my newest creation with you. I started with a wooden box that I received from my Grandma and paint stained it. Then I made a doll using a pattern from Primfolk's by Judy. Love the way it turned out. Next I made two hearts from a pattern by Kentucky Primitives that have poems on them. The doll and hearts are filled with scrap cloth. Finally I added some moss grass, rusty stars, dried roses from my garden and a tag that says Sarah's doll (named after my granddaughter because she is the only one that thinks my creations are beautiful). Have a great day and God bless you.

Yorkie's garden

Years ago before being attacked by allergies, I used to plow up the garden with a rotar tiller, plant it and harvest it. Well, that was years ago.LOL Now I am lucky to walk to the garden without panting. But after falling in love with primitives this year, I decided to plant a garden with sweet annie, gourds, indian corn, broom corn (which I had never even heard of) and sunflowers. So I ask hubby to plow me a space and he said NO. So I threatened to plow it myself and he and my daughter about fell out of their chairs laughing. So I showed them. I plowed it. (Hubby finished it at the last because it just about killed me.)
So this is my first year planting anything like this and I have been waiting patiently (yeah right) to see if any of it would grow. Well today I got my first ear of min. indian corn out of the garden! I was so excited. And my broom corn is tossling and I have three different colors of sunflowers. I can't wait to see what the broom corn looks like when it bushes out. And my sweet annie is growing too. So what knows what I will decide to plant next year! (HMM).
Anyway, here are pictures of my sunflowers, broom corn and indian corn.
I didn't know that they made so many different colors of sunflowers but I am glad that I have them. Here is my broom corn. I can't wait to see what the plumes look like. The instructions say that the stalk gets hard enough to use as a handle and the flumes bush out and turn different colors. So I am still deciding what I want to do with the broom corn.

Here is my indian corn. It is still drying out so the colors have not finished turning. The other cobs on the stalks are different colors so I can't wait to see how many colors I get from this corn see.

Tomorrow I will post pictures of my gourds and sweet annie. I am just so excited about the new things I have grown and can't wait to see what else I will try. See ya later.

Trip to Gatlinburg

My niece Brittany asked me if I would go to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg with her today to the outlet mall. Well Sage from Sagewood Farms had told us about an Amish store up there so I said sure. When we started up there, I told her of the store and she helped me find it. She did her shopping and then I did mine. Oh my gosh, I have never seen so many primitive items in one store. I was in hog heaven. I bought this really neat Rooster plaque to put on the front of my house and a sweet flag for my front porch.
Then we drove to Gatlinburg in 20mph traffic. Took about 1 1/2 hours to get there and I was running short of time because I had to be back in time to watch my grandson play baseball so I let Brittany run in the two stores that we needed to go to and drove up, turned around and picked her back up. Well, here's where the adventure started. I decided to take the back road back to Knoxville so that we could miss all the traffic in Gatlinburg (only there isn't a back road) LOL. So we drove and drove and drove and then realized we were lost, and our phones were out of network. So we stopped at this little store and she told us to go about 2 miles down the road and we would hit the interstate back to Knox. She forgot to tell us we were headed to Cocke Co. So when I see the sign Cocke Co, I panicked and Brittany thought I knew where we were. WRONG! I finally got service and called hubby and he was so mad, he wouldn't tell us how to get home. So then we get to Newport and I tell Brittany we don't want to be here because this place is dangerous. People go there and never come back. Well, she didn't believe me until we came upon this rest stop and she says, "OH MY GAWD GRAM, that's where that entire family except for the little boy was killed." Well both our bladders were about to rupture because we had not been to the bathroom since we left the house, but we didn't stop at that rest stop! Then we hit Jefferson Co. and I told her that I could get home from there because that was where I ended up when I tried to go to East Town the first time. She failed to see the humor in this. LOL So we finally got back to Knox., and I remembered that the interstate is shut down for road work and the detours take you through the meanest part of Knox. So we had to go down Strawberry Plains and hit John Sevier to get home. We stopped at Shoney's and ate because it was 4:00 p.m. and we hadn't eaten all day. But my first pitstop was the bathroom! So now you know why I don't go anywhere by myself (and Brittany said she wasn't listenng to me anymor.) It took 1/4 tank of gas to get there and 1/2 tank gas to get home. What a trip, but I made it to Daniel's game. They lost. Well got to get ready for bed. Hope everyone has a great week.

July 4 Cookout

We had a great July 4th cookout yesterday. Ate grilled steaks, baked potatoes and salad with the kids and enjoyed every minute of it. Then the kids played volleyball and badmitton. I will post pictures tomorrow to show you the little kids version of these games. Afterwards we drove up to the church and watched the fireworks from Knoxville. You would not beieve this but during the fireworks, it was lightning and the lightning was red! It looked kinda freaky to see red lightning. We still haven't figured out how fireworks can cause it but even the streak lightning would come to the ground in red streaks. Go figure. Until tomorrow, God bless you.

Fun Weekend

Well I had fun this weekend and got lucky too! My daughter and I went rummaging Saturday and I actually got lucky and found some neat items. I found an old tin watering can that I can't wait to put flowers in with a few bugs and maybe a crow. I also found me a dough bowl for $1.00. Couldn't believe it. And I found this adorable doll bench for $2.00 so I think I had a pretty good Saturday.
Today after church I fixed dinner and the kids came down to eat so we had a really good time chatting. I love to have family dinners. I think that's the one thing to look forward to. They may be grown but they still take the time out of their busy schedules to visit once a week. Well, it's bedtime so I guess I'll see ya later. Hope everyone has a wonderful week and God bless every one.

Welcome to my Blog

Hi, welcome to my blog. Until a few weeks ago, I had never heard of a blog and due to being computer challenged, I would never have been able to post one without the help of Deboraha of Sagewood Farms. Thanks Deborah. She has been so helpful and led me through each step with more patience than anyone I know. I hope you enjoy browsing through my different listings. I have listed some items for sale and will be adding more in the future. Check out my family and soon I will be adding a post for pictures of my home and my flower garden. Thanks for visiting and come back often. You never know what you might find on my blog.
